About
Hello, I'm Helen.
UKCP and BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor: Central London and online.
A psychotherapist working relationally with adults across London and online throughout the UK. Trained in the gestalt tradition, with a background in mindfulness and somatic practice and pain reprocessing therapy.
I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a Clinical Diploma, awarded by Metanoia Institute, one of the UK's leading psychotherapy training institutions. I am also a trained Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) coach.
I offer weekly, in-person sessions at private consulting rooms on London's Regent Street, with online sessions also available. All are confidential and provide the appropriate mix of support and challenge to meet your needs.
Through psychotherapy, I work with clients experiencing difficulties in their daily lives, often the result of trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and family and relationship issues, all of which can be compounded by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), as well as with those wanting to make changes in their lives.
I have specialist experience in supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse and trauma, as well as people with disabilities and their carers.
Through pain reprocessing therapy, I work with those experiencing chronic pain, including migraines, back ache, fibromyalgia, pelvic pain, joint pain and repetitive strain injury (RSI), as well as other chronic conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and interstitial cystitis (IC). I am also aware of how emotional and physical discomfort can co-exist, requiring a dual approach to therapy.
My approach
Gestalt psychotherapy is a warm, relational approach that pays close attention to what's happening in the present moment: in your body, emotionally, and between us in the room. I work with the whole of you. The aim isn't to fix, but to support you in becoming more aware, building resources and finding your own way forward.
As someone who suffered from chronic pain for many years, I know how ongoing illnesses which can't be cured through medical intervention blight people's lives. Many chronic conditions have a psychological, as well as physical, component and, once medical routes have been explored, pain reprocessing therapy can help retrain the brain and break the cycle of chronic pain.
